Digital Literacy Agenda: Unifying The Perspectives Of European Higher Education Institutions
The Digital Literacy Agenda: Unifying the Perspectives of European Higher Education Institutions is a comprehensive framework designed to address the critical need for digital literacy in higher education. This white paper, a key outcome of the IGNITION project, brings together the insights and strategies of four leading institutions: Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Hochschule Bremen, South-East Technological University, and Bragança Polytechnic University.
The Digital Literacy Agenda was developed from a shared recognition that digital transformation, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, has reshaped the educational landscape and exposed significant gaps in digital readiness among educators and students. This Agenda not only highlights these challenges but also addresses prioritized areas of digital competences that institutions can focus on to improve their quality of education and close digital divide.
As a result of rigorous research, collaboration, and reflections on current digital education trends, the Agenda outlines strategic initiatives aimed at fostering digital inclusivity and enhancing digital competences within higher education. Key areas include the development of digital didactics, promoting digital equality, improving access to digital resources, and creating effective assessment tools for digital literacy.
This document provides a roadmap for institutions to adopt digital literacy initiatives that are both effective and inclusive, ensuring that digital competencies are prioritized in academic development. As higher education continues to evolve, the Digital Literacy Agenda serves as a guiding tool for institutions, educators, and policymakers to equip students and staff with the essential skills needed in a digitally-driven world.
